Finding God, self, and community in wild spaces. The better we know our wild neighbors the more we'll discover ourselves.
A vision informed by Henry David Thoreau’s interpretation of sauntering, Jesus’ understanding of neighbor, Aldo Leopold’s concept of thinking like a mountain, Rachel Carson’s prophetic voice and John Muir’s way of capturing the beauty and uniqueness of wild neighbors with words.

Blackberry Surprise

During a recent outdoor adventure in which we were searching for a Kentucky warbler that had been reported in central Pennsylvania Erin and I did not find our hoped for bird, but we were surprised to find a sizable patch of delicious ripe blackberries!

I think sometimes in life the real gifts along the journey are not that which we expect to find or even hope to find but what surprises us along the way! When is the last time you were surprised by what you accomplished with the help of God or the people whom the Spirit of God connected you with to make it happen?

As we seek to live into community with all that has life in Jesus’ name...working towards that vision of peace among people and peace between people and everything else that has life...choosing to have an open mind is a way of partnering with God to prepare our hearts for the surprises God has for us along the way.

Here are some photos from our recent adventure and blackberry surprise:
